How to Package Your Benchmarks
Data Director FAQ's
Is the test confidential?
Yes, the test is confidential and students are not allowed to remove copes from the classroom. Students shall only use copies for taking the test. Copies will be kept in a secure place in your classroom. After testing, all copies shall be returned to the school office which will then be returned to the district office.
Can I write on the test?
Yes, on the bottom portion.

What if I do not have enough answer sheets?
Go to Data Director and print a blank one. Write COPY on the bottom and bubble in the teacher ID number and the student ID number if you know it.
What if I do not have enough test booklets?
Go to Data Director and print a copy, or make a copy of a student edition.
What if I do not know the student ID number?
It is ok if you do not know the ID numbers. Make sure the student AND teacher name are clearly printed on the test and the test administrator will key it in.
Why can’t I use sticky notes?
Stick notes jam the scanner just like they jam your copy machine. Just write notes on the bottom of the answer document.
What kind of notes should I be writing?
You do NOT need to write if a student is absent, or on vacation, or that they do not pay attention in class! The test scanner does not need this information. DO WRITE “COPY” if the test is a photocopy or printed from your computer.
I sent in a test and it didn’t get scanned?
Sometimes tests are missed if the packed is not correctly packed for return.
How should I pack the tests to return?
Place COMPLETED answer documents on TOP of the packet, then separate grades by a colored sheet of paper. The yellow directions work well for this. You may also use a blank or completed green answer sheet. Place test booklets below. Discard everything else.
So tests are packed in this order:
- Cover sheet
- Answer sheets- completed ones only (grades separated by a colored sheet)
- Colored sheet of paper
- Answer sheets from second grade level
- Colored sheet of paper
- Test booklets
What specifically can I discard?
Discard ALL scrap paper, blank answer sheets, blank green answer sheets, notes not written on the actual answer sheets.
What happened to the blue teacher copy?
To reduce copying this copy is now available on Data Director!
You may print your own copy from the main OVERVIEW page. The one with the color graph, available at the bottom)
I want to review the test after the students have taken it. Can I do this?
Yes, you may review the test after students have taken the test and you have returned test booklets to the office. Do this by projecting a copy directly from Data Director. Reviewing the test after students take it will foster good test taking skills for students.
